It's a bit like bread making isn't it: There's a point at which it is ready to be cooked, after that it falls a bit flat! (Not that anyone will notice once you've cooked your cabbage)
... or did it rain? beautiful head however, and I'm sure you'll love every bite of it.PS: as for your trapped rodent (raccoon), that's why we don't grow corn anymore... we have so many of them aroundpss: hope all is well with you.. your garden harvests are beautiful!
ha! Still pretty though.
It still looks great though!
Oh no. I had that happen too...some times the ugly things taste the best.
Yep, that's what happens. I'm always afraid to wait too long in fear of them splitting. I'm sure that it tasted just fine though!Your cantaloupe looks great Thomas! I was having some "big" rodent problems this past week. I finally found the hole....so hopefully it's under control!
right- that is what will happen to cabbages when not to be harvested at the right time. My father has a huge cabbage garden in our farm and if a cabbage looks that way, it will no longer be qualified to be sold out in the marketplace. Considered as damage or reject.Cassy from Guitar Made Easy
My chickens would love it! We harvested a Sakata's Sweet melon yesterday...oh my goodness, it was so sweet for breakfast today!
Nothing wrong with it other than cosmetics. Enjoy the harvest!
We were truly blessed by mother nature this year. I've noticed it in all of our pink daylilies: http://www.birchwoodfarmsnh.com/?meta_key=Color&meta_value=Pink
Thomas - not that I'm a pro at growing cabbage - but, I remember reading that you're supposed to twist the head 1/4 turn to keep that from happening....
Look very good. I will be very happy with that one rather than big holes on the leaves or snail and slug hiding between the leaves.
I'm not a huge fan of cabbages, but the picture is great. The contrast of the dark green of the leaves against the almost neon-green of the veins. Gorgeous :)
