Harvest Monday - Carrot Cleanup
This past week, my son Jonathan and I harvested the remaining carrots from one of my beds. They were the runts of the litter but tasty nonetheless.
I feel kind of silly calling this a "harvest", but for February in New England, what do you expect? :) Anyway, we did end up with 1.04 lbs of trimmed baby carrots.
P.S. I encountered a minor...no...make that major, catastrophe in the garden this past weekend. I'll upload some pictures tomorrow. It's only February but already I am in "KILL" mode.

That's a marvelous harvest for February in New England! Perfect little Jonathan sized carrots....I'll bet he really likes them, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice harvest, the carrots look pretty big to me, Jonathan is so cute and a good little helper, bet he likes carrots.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great harvest for Jonathan. I bet it's a lot of fun sharing the gardening with him. I can't wait to get in the garden with my son.
ReplyDeleteSome of those carrots are not that small. But it is great harvest for February anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou're being humble when you say this isn't harvest. To me, it's huge! Go, go, Thomas!
ReplyDeleteGreat harvest! Little carrots are great snacks. I bet it is enjoyable for Jonathan to eat what he himself has harvested from the ground.
ReplyDeleteYay for more Jonathan photos! Does he eat the carrots? It looks like a great harvest, remember it's February! You're doing great. Anxiously awaiting pics of the catastrophe... moles, voles, rats, a locust invasion? LOL... you have us all wondering!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great late winter harvest! I am pulling up the last of our carrots and parsnips right now and am also down to the smaller ones (last ones planted and I was late about two weeks getting them into the ground).
ReplyDeleteJonathan is just too sweet for words.
That's an awesome harvest! Enjoy them with Jonathan.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful to hear that someone in NE is harvesting carrots in February! I'm hoping once I have my greenhouse put up I'll be able to do the same.
ReplyDeleteAren't little helpers just wonderful? My kids were always in the garden with me when they were young. The memories will always remain with you long after they have grown...
Great harvest, those are going to be a great snack, and hey at least you are still growing something in NE February. Do you use the tops or just compost them?
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic harvest. Mine is a few shoots ;) My little helpers enjoy yanking carrots too. At that age, I remember them doing two handed.
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued.....
ReplyDeleteGreat harvest; also good to see your son doing it with you!
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a harvest like that in February!
ReplyDeleteIt is a better harvest than most of us get up north. I'd take some fresh carrots about now.
ReplyDeleteThose carrots look wonderful, and how wonderful that your son helped you. Mine are still all tops, no root. Hoping I'll have a few that look as yummy as yours...
ReplyDeleteOverwintered carrots are so tasty and sweet! Nice harvest.
ReplyDeleteI'd call that a harvest anytime ! Nice !
ReplyDeleteNice looking carrot harvest. Baby veg is all the rage! They must taste excellent after enduring so much cold. So what future do they hold?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I'm slightly jealous of your results. We attempted to hoop garden this winter, but with absolutely no luck b/c our hoops have pretty much been buried by snow since mid-Dec. They've collapsed several times under the weight of all the snow we've received. It's been a really weird winter. I feel like I'm living in that scary Jack Nicholson movie where the young family was snowed in at the lodge w/ the freak (just w/o the scary freak)! We can't wait until Spring starts to try again.
