Moving Day

DSC_0027
Moving day has arrived. Yikes! The truck is being loaded as I type. I can't believe that we'll be in our new home tomorrow. Jonathan and I will be spending another night here while Marc has already started his new Job in Burlington this week. Admittedly, it hasn't really hit me yet that we'll be living in Vermont.

It's always sad to say goodbye to a home, especially if it was your first. In many ways, I feel like I've leaving an old friend behind. :(

And goodbye garden! It was nice knowing you!

  1. I wish you luck in your new garden. And at least you are moving in the winter. I think it is harder to move in the summer when all your veggies are starting to produce.

  2. Good luck with the move!

I can't wait to hear about your new place and garden - it sounds very interesting!

And as someone who bought a house with NO gardens at all, I totally envy the people buying your house!!!

  3. As someone who pulled up roots and moved about 4 years, I know what it's like to leave a garden after spending so much time there.

Wishing you the best in your new location. I'm sure it will have it's own rewards and challenges!

  5. I can't wait to see what great things you do in the new garden! We'll be here waiting for you! And just think, with this blog, you have a record of your life there that not a lot of people have. Pretty awesome feat if you ask me! Good luck!!!

  7. You've left the garden in pristine shape which I think the next residents will appreciate. All the best to you and your family on the move and, like others, I'm looking forward to your new adventures!

  8. It will be hard to leave the place you put so much into, not to mention that's where Jonathan came into your lives, but wow what a beautiful place you are headed! Are you renting it out or were you able to sell it?

  9. Oh my gosh. I have had to do that so many times in the military.
I wish you all the most blessed New Year, Thomas. I am sure you will all do well. ♥

And I agree. You've left the new owners a lovely garden to start in, if they haven't tried gardening before. :-)

Safe trip to you and Jonathan!

  11. Moving to VT will be a lot of fun for you and your family, but leaving behind your first home and garden must be a little sad. Best of luck on the move and may you be unpacked and settled soon.

  12. Thomas, I have followed this creative act of yours since you packed up in Winthrop and began to dream of a backyard garden. What you have done in the few years here has taught all of us, and I for one look forward to watching you turn the earth yet again in Vermont. Best of luck to you and your family.

  14. Oh how I wish you could put your garden in the moving truck as well. I will really miss watching what you grow in those hoop houses, though I know you will continue on with your green thumb in VT. Sad to lose my Massachusetts buddy, but I wish you all the best in Vermont!!

  15. It is always sad to close one chapter and move on to the next. The garden left for others is beautiful and hopefully it will be treasured. I am excited about your new location though and the opportunities the garden and solar room will offer you going forward.

  16. Oh joy! I understand how it can be both sad and exciting to move- my husband and I just moved into our first house nearly a week ago! I obviously had to leave my dearest garden back at the apartment, but this new space we have is just stunning. I hope the best for your move and your next garden! That home will be so happy to have you, I'm sure.
I hope you keep us updated on the moved and the new space! Take a look at my new plot if you have the chance!

  17. I understand how you feel. I still have 18 months until I move but I already know it's going to be hard to leave the dogwood I grew from a tiny twig.

I hope you move goes very smoothly. It's such a lot of work! Good luck.
