The Model Farm

Polyface Farm's natural selection from denny gainer on Vimeo.

I first became aware of Polyface Farm while reading Michael Pollen's The Omnivore's Dilemma years ago and wondered whether such an agricultural model would work on a national scale. I would love to tour Joel Salatin's farm one of these days. It's evident that he's truly passionate about his work and kind of crazy (in a good way).

  1. We are lucky to have both Polyface Farm and Monticello close to us! You should definitely plan a trip to both, you would love it! They do scheduled tours but also you can see it on any given day as well without the tour fees, they welcome just "walking around"! Nearby Charlottesville is a nice place to stay if you decide to go, it's a college town and has some great B&B's and brewpubs LOL!

  4. OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE Michael Pollan and his books, and I loved reading about PF Farms. Salatin has written some great books also. The one I most recently read was "Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal." It was really great. Most of his books are about his process of farming different things... Salad bar beef, pastured poultry, etc...

Meeting him and going to PF Farms is definitely on my bucket list. Seeing your post got me so excited! What a good video!!!
