The Calm After the Storm

Snow covered yard
It's been a while since I've posted an aerial photo of the backyard. This morning presented a fine opportunity to do so. I've always loved the morning after a great winter storm. The world outside just seems so calm and peaceful.

Bobby in the Snow
Poor Bobby. Despite the fact that he's built like a horse, even he had trouble maneuvering through two feet of snow.

On a side note, I was able to brush all of the snow off my hoop house when I got home tonight. Luckily, everything still appears intact.

  2. I also love the morning after the snow. It feels like everything has stopped and all things I have to do can wait one more day.

Great picture of Bobby in the snow. He seems happy, his tail is up. But that might be because he doesn't want to get it wet.

  3. The look on Bobby's face is pricelss! He certainly is built like a horse!

I'm happy to hear that the hoop house is intact. Although, the snow was keeping the cold frames at a constant 37, I had to remove it. When the sun hit the snow it would melt a bit and was causing a large ice dam and dip in the plastic. I was afraid the plastic would rip. The same thing would have probably happened to your hoop house.

  4. You have WAY more snow than us! I just realized you have a blue door on your shed also, guess we could start a club! ;)

Glad the hoophouse weathered the storm just fine.

  5. I too love the morning after a snowstorm. Usually the only sounds we hear are the birds chirping around the bird feeders. Your yard looks beautiful with its blanket of snow. Love seeing Bobby :)

  7. Hmmph! All our snow has gone now - can I have some of yours please!

The hoop house is standing up well against the elements. Good work there!

  10. That was an amazing blizzard! I actually showed up to work on time at 7:00 a.m. At least the road crew was prepared. I love the blue tinge to the snow ~ great pictures! Having three dogs, only one of which is Bobby's size and the other two smaller, I totally understand...we have more snow removal to do this weekend. Glad to see your hoop house survived. COME ON SPRING!!!! please

  11. The hoop house held up nicely but it is good that you got the snow off - it just gets heavier as the melt starts. I have to go straighten my grow tunnel up today - part of it got a bit squashed in the heavy wet snow we got on Tuesday. Had to wait until the weekend when I can see what I am doing to do the final tidy up on it.
