Wwwwwindy....

windy day
Boy is it windy today! This is what happens when you don't properly stake your kale plants. This morning, it feels more like August than October. I think Indian summer arrived early this year.

In case any of you are wondering, I had to return early from my Vermont trip. Driving to and fro (a total of 7 hours) in non-stop torrential rain was enough to convince me that I had picked a bad day to go on a road trip. Hopefully, we'll see some sunshine soon.

  1. Well we won't see it today. We are supposed to have torrential downpours today. This last week is really making up for all the rain we didn't have before.

  2. The wind gusts are a bit scary, but is 100% sunshine where I am. I know the rain is coming, but we have not seen any of it in the last couple of days.

  3. Poor kales! Glad you're safe after your drive. We were up till 5 am listening to the wind howl and tug and screech around the roof and terrace. Nervy.

  4. Wow that is some tall kale! Set a record of 8 inches rain in one day yesterday - and the wind has been crazy, luckily my stuff is still small!

  8. Sorry you had to drive for so long in torrential rain, it is not fun.

My kale also flops like that when there is a big storm. When the wind is over, I just straighten it and pat the soil down around the roots. And it keeps on growing happily without a stake.

  9. Windy here in Va too Thomas. The garden looks ok from the kitchen window. Have not bee out there in several days due to the wind and rain. We did loose yet another tree. Seems we loose at least one every year. Hubby will be playing with the chain saw today. A man's perfect day!

As always, your garden looks great. Even the toppled kale....Have a great weekend.

  10. Boy you were brave driving such a distance with that system moving up the eastern seaboard! Glad you made it back safe and sound and sorry the fun part of your trip was cut short.

I bet the kale will be fine with a little assist in staightening it up.
