The Dog Days

Dogs 4
Maggie (aka 'Magpie...formerly 'Baby') - Yes, we changed her name. I just couldn't say 'Baby' with a straight face in public. Besides, I think she was a bit embarrassed by it too.

Dogs 5
Bobby (aka 'Bear', 'Fatty', 'Tank') - How could you not love that face? Sweet as pie, he's the gentle giant of the family (though you best move out of the way whenever Bobby decides to set his fanny down).

Dogs 3
We sure love our dogs. While they've only been with us for two months, it feels as though we've had them forever. In an ideal world, I would be able to work from home. We would live on a farm, plant an orchard and surround ourselves with animals. (I wonder if yellow labs are good at herding sheep.) Doesn't that sound nice?

  1. Thomas - Your labs are adorable. I love dogs, too, and can't imagine our life without them. Yes, life on a farm is wonderful. I don't know how good labs are at herding, but our two English Bulldogs love herding the ducks and chasing the goats.

  2. That just made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Or maybe it was the Mike's Hard Lemonade I just drank ;-)

  4. I love those pictures!
Yesterday I was at my friends house and she has also Labrador. He is only 2 years old and still very playful, but already full size dog.

  6. Look at those faces! They are so sweet. My in-laws did just that. They sold their house and moved to North Country, bought a farm, planted an orchard and now raise animals and produce!

  7. Oh, isn't it amazing how quickly they worm their way into your heart? I can't imagine a life without dogs!

  8. I almost burst out laughing but managed to control myself with a chuckle or else everyone in my lab will be looking at me and know I should be studying but not. Would be hard to call Maggie -baby in public. They are so adorable. Wish we had one.

  9. I was just wondering the other day how the dogs were doing! They are gorgeous pups, I bet Jonathan just loves them. You will find that one name morphs into another, I think each of our dogs has no less than 8 or 9 "nicknames" LOL

  11. I love the sound of your ideal world, I would like to be your farmer neighbor and our dogs (and kids) could romp together through the fields. :)

So glad the dogs feel like "home". They are adorable.

  14. So great about the dogs! Good on you for adopting them.
We had a black lab that had more herding instinct than one of our present border collies:)

  16. Thomas, As a fellow lab lover and rescuer, I love seeing pics of Maggie and Bobby perfectly happy in your home. I have dreams of some day also owning a farm where we have space to house rescue labs until we can find perfect homes for them.

  17. Labs are such good dogs. We had a black lab for years and adored her. It was a very sad day when she became so old and frail that we had to have her humanely put down. Your pair are just beautiful. Treasure them.

  19. Thomas, a yellow lab - my favorite dog. Yours are beautiful! They have the best demeanor and are especially good with children.

We had horses, cows, dogs, cats.. when we lived across town. When we moved 17 years ago, hubby said the only animal I was allowed to have now was "him". LOl Of course, all the neighbors animals think our place is theirs.
