December White Out
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas weekend! It started snowing late this afternoon here in Eastern Massachusetts and isn't expected to stop anytime soon. The grocery store was buzzing today with folks trying to stock up for the storm. We're expected to get around 18 inches this time around. Winds are expected to get especially rough around 3 AM tonight. Hopefully, the hoop house will be able to withstand them.
When nature calls, you do what you have to do, right? Poor Maggie is not particularly fond of the snow. I'm sure my taking this picture was just adding insult to injury.

I hope you don't have to travel!
ReplyDeletePoor Maggie. My dogs have never been in snow, but refuse to go pee in the rain. In WA, we have to let them out front, where they go under the pine trees and stay nice and dry. Down here it seldom rains, but when it does I have to use my "mean voice" to get them to go out. Otto has discovered he can stay fairly dry under the palm tree, but Annie just sulks and braves the rain. So far she hasn't melted, LOL!
Pretty snow but brrr! Poor Maggie doesn't seem to like it at all! Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteBarely anything in Virginia, but the stores were still crazy!
ReplyDeleteJust took the Lab for her late night walk. Not to cold for her, freezing cold and whipping winds for humans.
Enjoy your snow day (s) cook something delicious.

Thomas, we have been thinking about you as we watch the Weather Channel (I know, my son says to his wife, "Hey JM, mom's watching the weather channel) lol...
ReplyDeleteStay warm, stay safe... don't be out unless you have to. Blessings and hopefully the storm will pass soon.
Wow! And here in oz we are gearing up for 38C (100F) in a few days! The snow looks beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteWe have some snow here, but not nearly as much!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays and stay warm!
I have a drift in my garden right now in one spot that is about 2 1/2-3' high. Other spots are bare. It has been a big storm. Sadly my wind gauge froze up so I haven't a clue as to how strong the winds got.
ReplyDeleteHi Thomas. I hope your hoop house stands up to the double onslaught of snow and wind! I hope you and Marc and Jonathan had a lovely Christmas and will enjoy playing in the snow once the winds die down a bit. I'm delighted to see how well your Meyer lemons are doing...i think i've talked several people into windowsill fruit gardening because of your success and i'll probably get my own tree this year, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Thomas, hope you're keeping warm and dry! I have a lot of friends in MA... that's where I'm from! So I've been watching their posts about the snow on FB.
ReplyDeleteI just love your hoop house and DO hope that the winds don't bother it!
How are things today?
This will be a real test of the hoop house when all is said and done. I expect it will hold up admirably. Poor Maggie being photographed whileanswering the call of nature. That's just not right!
ReplyDeleteThis same storm ended up delaying and then cancelling my daughters flight home from PA today to WA. I am just heartbroken about it.
Sounds like you might still be digging out of the storm. Sure hope you all have heat! How did the hoop house stand up to all the snow? I showed hubby the picture and we would love to build something like it, but his first comment was, "I don't know if that will hold up in the winds we have"
ReplyDeleteGreetings from rainy Southern California.
ReplyDeleteI added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to :-)
May God bless you and your family in 2011 ~Ron
And always remember: Smiles don't have to be saved for a rainy day. It's good to waste them :-)
So did the hoop house make it through?
ReplyDeleteIt's apparently a snow year. It snowed 4 separate times in December here in NC. Very early snow... My step son lives in the Boston area and was here for Christmas. He went back on 12/27 - his plane was one of the few to land at Logan that day after a 2+ hour delay in Raleigh (NC) and cutting Philly out as a stop.
I hope your hoop house made it!
